Tzfat is, without a doubt, the city of artists. Many artists from around the world have been drawn, as if on a flying carpet, to this quaint, enchanted town with her pastoral view. Already 500 years before, great poets of religious liturgy lived here, such as Rabbi Yisrael Najara (composer of ya Ribon Olam), Rabbi Shlomo Alkabetz (composer of Lecha Dodi), and Rabbi Elazar Azkari (composer of Yedid Nefesh), as well as other great writers, silversmiths, and artists. Today too, dozens of Israeli artists, some well known while others less known, reside here and continue to create artwork.

A local artist will guide the tour, imparting to you the beauty of this town, as seen and impressed upon through the soul of an artist. During the tour we will pass through a number of galleries and meet artists with different creative styles to their work. They will show us their artwork and share with us their life stories.

We will sing throughout the alleyways songs which the Kaballists once composed, which have since become, through the past hundreds of years, accepted and well known folk songs all over the Jewish world. We will sing "Lecha Dodi", in the very place where it was first sung in history. With violin and clarinet accompaniment, we will sing "Tzfat songs", such as. "Eretz HaGalil", "Bar Yochai" and others, sung to the various tunes known to different ethnic groups. We will hear different stories from the lives of these liturgical poets, which in turn led them to write these songs of strong yearning, since incorporated into our tradition.

The tour can be combined with a short workshop, such as jewelry making, painting on canvas, and more. We also offer a klezmer performance in an old Tzfat lane, and other activities of your choice.
